Streamline Roof Warranties : Outline and Terms

Under normal usage conditions, with the correct care, attention and regular maintenance your campervan roof should last well beyond the warranty period. There are few moving parts and the roof is constructed from GRP so any issues with the roof are usually preventable or relatively easy to repair if caught early.

If you intend to purchase a roof from us them please review our advice and tips page which goes into more details about maintaining your roof including advice on usage, storage and maintenance.

Warranty Time Scales

5 Year Warranty : Covers the roof shell and general fixings.

1 Year Warranty : Covers the roof tent, hinges and gas struts.

Please note that warranties may vary on clearance stock some of which is sold as seen.  If you are unsure please ask for clarification before purchasing.

Warranty Claims

Warranties are subject to the terms and conditions outlined below and will include replacement of parts if the roof was supplied direct or parts and labour if we fitted the roof. If you would like to make a warranty claim then you can do this online

Our commitment to providing quality campervan roofs

We supply thousands of campervan roofs each year and in very rare circumstances there may be a fault within the roof shell which was not detected during manufacture or a part like a gas strut fails earlier than its tested lifespan.

Replacing a defective roof can be expensive and time consuming so we do our very best to ensure any potential faults are caught at the manufacturing stage.

If your issue is due to a manufacturing fault then we will certainly assist you within the terms of our warranty, this may include a repair or a replacement.

We will also assist if the issue is due to incorrect fitting, misuse, or poor maintenance; however, if any of these are the cause of your issue, then your roof will probably not be covered by our warranty.

Streamline Campervan Roof Warranty Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions help to clarify the responsibilities of Streamline Campervan Roofs and our customers, as well as to protect the interests of both parties in the event of a warranty claim.

1.0 Correct installation of the roof

All roofs must be installed in accordance with our instructions or by a competent roof fitter. Incorrect fitting can invalidate the warranty as it can lead to issues that would not normally occur. Poor fitting can include things like incorrect alignment of the roof, not positioning roof handles as outlined in our fitting instructions or improper sealing / weatherproofing.

2.0 Proof of purchase

Proof of purchase, which clearly shows the date of purchase, must be provided if you have purchased the roof from us or from an individual or company we deal with. If purchased from a third party, you will need to provide proof of purchase showing us that you purchased the roof directly from an individual or company that we traded with.

3.0 Transferability

The warranty is only transferable when the roof has been purchased as part of a conversion undertaken by ourselves, one of our trade customers or approved fitters. If you have purchased a van from a third party and they did not install the roof then the roof is no longer covered by warranty although we will review and assist you if we can.

4.0 Point of contact

If the roof was purchased through a third party i.e. a campervan conversion company you will need to contact them initially. If that company in no longer trading then we may be able to assist you directly however you must provide proof of purchase as outlined in 2.0 above.

5.0 Misuse of the roof

Our warranty covers manufacturing defects and not issues arising from external factors beyond our control. If the roof has been misused then unfortunately this will invalidate your warranty.

Misuse of the roof includes but is not limited to the following:

  1. Overloading: Placing excessive weight on the pop-top roof or fitting other objects to the roof including roof racks that then load the roof beyond its rated capacity. Pop-top roofs are generally not designed to bear heavy loads.

  2. Improper Operation: Opening or closing the roof incorrectly, such as forcing it open or closed. The roof should be opened and closed in line with guidance either outlined by ourselves (See our Advice and Tips page) or by the company who fitted the roof. All items should be removed from the roof tent area before closing and if roof racks are fitted then any loads being carried should be removed before attempting to open the roof.

  3. Unapproved Modifications: Making alterations to the roof structure, mechanism, or fabric without our permission including drilling holes, adding unapproved fixtures, or using non-standard parts for repairs.

  4. Neglecting Maintenance: Failing to perform recommended maintenance (See our Advice and Tips page). We recommend regular cleaning, lubricating moving parts, or checking for and repairing minor damage before it worsens. Ensure that tents are dried before the roof is shut for any extended period of time. Regularly check that all fixings on gas struts and hinges are tight.

  5. Using in Inappropriate Conditions: Deploying the pop-top in severe weather conditions, like heavy snow, strong winds, or extreme temperatures.

  6. Rough Handling: Manhandling the roof, such as yanking on it to open or close, which can damage the mechanism or the fabric.

  7. Exposing to Harsh Chemicals: Cleaning the pop-top with harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that can damage the fabric, mechanical parts or colour finishes.

6.0 Regular Inspections and Maintenance

Customers are responsible for performing regular inspections and maintenance on the roof to ensure its proper functioning and longevity. Neglecting regular maintenance may void the warranty. For example, allowing a hinge to rust could result in issues opening the roof, which may in turn compromise the structural integrity of the entire assembly. Small unresolved issues can lead to larger more significant issues. Check out our Advice and Tips page for further guidance on maintenance.

7.0 Painting the roof

All paintwork should be carried out in line with our website instructions and at your own risk. Instructions can be found in the “Having your campervan roof painted” section within the “UK Key Details” and the “EU / International Key Details” sections which are available on all roof pages. If in doubt please contact us.

8.0 Making a warranty claim

Clear photographic proof or inspection of any claims may require a visit to us for work and inspection. If the claim is accepted, our responsibility is for the replacement parts, not the fitting, except if the roof has been fitted at our Washington fitting centre based in Tyne and Wear. Work does not include fixing cosmetic issues unless those issues are directly related to an issue with the roof.

9.0 Warranty deduction based on fair usage

Claims made are subject to 20% deduction annually for the roof shell and general fittings over the 5-year period for standard usage and deterioration.  Tents, hinges and gas struts are covered by a 1 year guarantee and are not replaced with new if the roof shell is being replaced.

10.0 Exclusion of Other costs

Our warranty covers only the repair or replacement costs of the product itself. It does not extend to cover other costs such as travel expenses to our premises, accommodation, inconvenience, or any other related expenses. Any such additional costs incurred are the sole responsibility of the customer.

11.0 Exclusion of Consequential Damages

The warranty does not cover any consequential or incidental damages resulting from the use or malfunction of the roof, including but not limited to, damage to personal property, loss of use, or loss of revenue.

12.0 Removal and replacement of after market accessories

The warranty does not cover the removal and replacements of after market accessories including roof racks and solar panels. If necessary these may need to be removed before we can undertake a warranty repair.

13.0 Removal of obstructions before undertaking a repair or replacement.

If your roof needs to be refitted or repaired then the vehicle should be empty with head lining, bulk head, roof racks, awning brackets and any other obstructions removed. If you are unsure about how to present the van to us for repair or inspecition then you should contact us to clarify before bringing the van to our premises.

14.0 Use of roof racks

PopTop roofs are not designed to carry heavy loads and if roof racks are incorrectly fitted or overloaded they can damage your roof which will invalidate your warranty. We advise that the combined weight of the roof rack and load should not exceed 40kg. If you do decide to fit a roof rack then please review our advisory points currently outlined on our General Information page. If your roof is damaged after a roof rack has been fitted and the damage is not obviously due to a manufacturing fault, we will have no option but to conclude that the damage was caused by an overloaded roof rack.

15.0 Clearance Items

Unless specified, clearance stock is not covered by our warranty and is sold as seen. If you are unsure please ask for clarification before purchasing.

16.0 Modifications to Warranty Terms

We reserve the right to make reasonable modifications to the terms and conditions of the warranty at any time without prior notice. Any such modifications shall be binding upon the customer upon publication. Warranties are either 1, 3 or 5 years depending and are subject to terms and conditions outlined below.  Your warranty includes replacement of parts if the roof was supplied direct or parts and labour if we fitted the roof.
